Paint color choices
The time has come for me to actually think about what color I want my crew cab to be. I have been thinking about some shades of bright yellow such as lightning yellow, chrome yellow, or Ford's version of prairie gold. If I went with this I think I would run two black stripes down the hood and front valance panel. Does anyone have any other colors they think would look good on a crew. I really dont want black or white as I think they are used to much.
So what exterior do you think would look good besides yellow?
I also want the interior to be black so the color has to go good with black unless someone can convince me otherwise. Please give me your opinions. Didn't mean to steal from your post 1971ford.

Lance,
(I know this because I had a black 92' F-150 "nite edition". The power windows ceased to work and the A/C quit both at once).
And my wife's 03' Expedition is all black, (her choice).
Yeah, they look sharp but I don't need to boil eggs on the hot surface!

Black gets dirty easier, shows dirty easier, is much hotter.unless someone can convince me otherwise

re: Paint color choices
Not to mention that black shows scratches on the paint better than other colors.

Sorry the photos are not to good!! It is raining so there is no sun and then the dust with the flash on is not to good.
As you can see I have not clean my truck out yet

I think it looks good. I know MOST people don't like black. At frist ever one was like thats going to look bad with a saddle tan truck with a black in side the cab! Well now that ever one looks at it they love it.
You can do a fire engine red with a black in side

Re: Paint color choices
If you go with yellow on the outside, I think a dark tan or brown would look good. It'd be something different from black. You could go cream, but it gets dirty easy. Personally, I like black. I'm considering doing my own truck black interior & exterior. I've owned several black vehicles (in cluding my current daily driver) and yeah, they get hot, but it looks sharp! Sets off any chrome you might have quite nicely too. Besides, if you go with black stripes on your truck, a black interior would tie in nice.71Ford100 wrote: I have been thinking about some shades of bright yellow such as lightning yellow, chrome yellow, or Ford's version of prairie gold. If you're thinking of yellow with black interior, check out this truck... maybe it'll help you make up your mind:
http://www.truckinweb.com/brandpages/fo ... to_05.html
Also, here's my inspiration for doing my interior in black, if you want another idea...
http://www.classictrucks.com/features/0 ... to_04.html
My truck is going to be "frost turquoise", which is a lighter shade, so the saturation shouldn't be as pronounced as that truck. I also don't like the missing armrests and door trim... mine will have a more classic look. But this truck confirmed what I wanted would look good. Chasing down blue interior parts would give me a headache and make my wallet too thin.

Okay so I've done some thinking and I am pretty sure I am going with yellow, but now I need to determine a shade. I want a bright bold yellow. Does anyone have a pic of one of our trucks in chrome yellow, lightning yellow, and prairie gold.
As far as the interior here is what I am thinking: bucket seats like what was available when these were new in the front, with the stock bench seat in the rear. Black carpet of course. I plan on staying with the AM/FM radio with an 8 track player that was in it and mounting a Pioneer 6 Disk CD changer somewhere. There will be the underdash speaker and a 4x6 speaker on each side of the pillar (holes were already cut), I'm not sure if I want to stick with the stock bezel of go with a black and chrome F-600 one with a tach and vacumm gauge. I plan on finding a good set of door panels and painting those black front and back to stand out against the yellow. I'm not sure what to do for the headliner or the trim around it as I think it is painted. Of course I will get a new black dashpad. I dont know if I will put AC back in it or not.
Any more paint suggestions or interior suggestions. I may start a thread in interior about this as well.

Ever one says its gold but its not. It is in a way, But Its calld Saddlle tan tho, We had to put a lazer on the paint it get it right so its a custom made paint hard to make much less find any one that can do it. Paint is all PPG with the 180$ a gallon clear. For one thing you never see that color now day. The paint is not done on the out side it still needs to be buffd. If you think in the inside looks good wate tell you see the out side of the truck
