key cylinder (door lock) removal?

Post by Banjo »

what is quickest way to remove door locks and reinstall some on a bump? I'm sure recommended to remove door panel and go that way, but I was curious if the assy could be dropped in the rear of door and reach in that way? My door locks have doors froze open and no key and I got some in much better shape from two-bit and have a key and they work, so I want to install. Reason I'm hunting a cheating method, have one door handle with screw stripped out in middle, so gonna be hard to remove that panel.

Nope, sorry....the door panel has to be removed. Once you do, you can look up towards the lock cylinder and see the retaining clip that'll need removed. Once the clip is removed, the lock cylinder comes right out.
