Simulated vinyl top

Post by Steve302 »

Hello,
While poking around this site i have seen a few trucks with the simulated vinyl top.
What do you guys think about this? anyone like it? anyone seen one in person? I think its a cool way to break up the body of a truck and im thinking about doing it to mine. Black body with a similated black vinyl top.
OOOooooooo pretty!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I saw one at the local u-pullit. It was the light bluish green (don't know the exact color designation). It was neat looking and seems to be a litlle rarer.

One of my first parts trucks had that.

I wish I'd have taken a close-up shot of that. Anyway, just so you know, it just looks like vinyl, but it isn't soft like vinyl. It's basically a hard textured paint. I'm not sure what you could use to duplicate it though. You could probably use roll-on bedliner material, like Herculiner, but you'd have to practice first rolling it on some junk body panels, to make sure you don't have it too 'bumpy'. It would definitely help out a little quieting the interior.

Keith do you still have the trim for the back of the cab i need some as im gonna two tone my truck this winter. As for trying to do the fake looking roof i have used chip gaurd for rocker panels. I did this on a k5 Blazer years ago back in my dads shop. The wetter you spray the less texture it has. The product i used came in rattle cans and was sem brand.
