whats this doohicky for? +another Q

i keep seeing a chrome square panel on the bed close to the drivers door in pictures of our trucks. what is this for?

That's the aluminum access door for an add-on auxiliary fuel tank.

i have another small question, not worthy of a new thread.

should there be any sort of knob or cover over the cigar lighter in my 69 ranger?

yup ive one on each side, or for propane kits ect.

do you have a cigarette light socket in the hole? if not there is a chrome button that is suppose to cover the dash hole. it a chrome cigarette lighter delete button.

then you just need a lighter element for it. the original ones come up on ebay all the time. i am watching two right now im going to bid on. or you can just put in a non standard generic one. they arent specail or anything like that.

You're missing the whole lighter! The only thing you have is the socket that the lighter plugs into. :wink:
