Receiver hitch
Anyone bought the receiver hitch LMC sells, and it it truly a "bolt on" device? I have a bumper hitch but would prefer to haul cars on my flatbed trailer using a receiver.

re: Receiver hitch
Mine isn't from LMC, but it is truely a bolt on. Just clamped it to the frame and drilled the holes needed. I also welded .25" plate around the tube and bolted that to the bottom of the bumper. Easy money!

Umm... Heep... if you have to drill holes, it's not a "bolt on". True bolt on means not modification to install.
Was the welding required, or just you strengthening it?

re: Receiver hitch
Well OK, my error. I am used to a little labor when it comes to fitting things to this old rig
. Then I guess there is no such thing as a bolt on hitch for a bump that I have seen. No welding involved as far as mounting it to the pick up frame.

re: Receiver hitch
This is the DrawTite receiver hitch I installed on my '69 F250CS. The side brackets have three holes in them. The center hole lines up with a hole in the frame, then you have to drill two holes per side in the frame. It's not hard to do, just don't try to get the final hole size at first. Start small and work your way up, increasing the hole size in steps.
It was not hard at all to install. I can't find the paper that has the model number on it, and it's dark outside right now. It's made for '67-72 Ford F series trucks, and is the hitch for a deep drop bumper.
Even though I don't consider this bumper 'deep drop'.

re: Receiver hitch
No, I ordered the Hitch from Draw-Tite.

I can't find the instruction sheet, but that model number sounds right. It's for a '69 F250CS with a deep drop bumper.
I like it.

re: Receiver hitch
You're welcome!
This is from a post I made in September when I installed it:
So, now the new bumper is on. Time for the hitch.
I had purchased a Drawtite hitch for the truck, and since I had the new bumper on, it was time for the hitch. It was easy to install. There is a 1/2" hole factory drilled in the bottom frame rail. The hitch attaches with 1/2" bolts. So i just used that hole and installed one bolt one each rail, then hung the side brackets for the hitch. I snugged the bolts up a bit, then measured between the front of the brackets and adjusted the positioning of them until it was 33", which is the distance from outside to outside of the bolt plates on the receiver assembly. Then I marked the spot for the holes and drilled 2 1/2" holes in each frame rail. Then I installed the receiver assembly, and made any final adjustments to get it centered, then tightened down the bolts.
Good luck with it!
