ok guys..I'm getting ready in the next week or so to ship my truck off to a friends so we can start on the body work. Most of the bad spots are easy fixes, like the floor pans and the side of the bed and some dings.I've been busting my hump stripping it down and got engine out and have to finish sanding a few places up. So anyway its not going to take to long to get the truck straight and in primer, so the next step is paint. We are going to use apoxy primer but my buddy doesnt want to do anymore paint jobs in his garage. I need to figure out where to go for a nice paint job for a decent price. Id like to keep it around a grand if possible, and I dont have time for the do it yourself steps. Was debating on going to maaco for thier 649 enamal deal or if I got soem funds left maybe spring for the 1300 base coat clear coat. I'm going to paint the truck red to match the mustang and my one harley so I can get a fleet going but I like to get some opinions on where to get paint. This is not going to be a show truck, its going to be a driver and a go to homedepot for wood truck..but I want it to look good.

build a plastic covered paint booth some place and get it done in the paint booth. it only take a dozen or so 2x4s and a couple of rolls of plastic in a roll. i would stay away from macco special and the like.
unfortunately I dont have the experince to paint or the time really..I'm in the middle of ripping down aa porch and the deck so house can get sided..time is running out.
A. Put the truck on the porch B. paint the truck on the porch C. move the truck D. tare down the porch The hole time you will be working on the porch! RED
Just in paint and sandpaper all that good stuff its over 3,000 Time im done it will be 7,000 $$. But thats with all my truck parts. Like carpet dash that stuff. + the guy is giveing me a good deal he is not makeing any money off this truck. He knows im in a car club and that stuff so it will be a good selling point for him. He is doing a lot of stuff for free. And if I took it to where he works at I woud all ready have 30,000 into it and thats just takeing off all the parts But the guy is one of the best in arkansas and is really pickey about his stuff. Ever one ask me whos painting you truck im like the guy that does all of vences stuff and there like wow your getting a great paint job and he will do it right. GOD I CAN"T WATE TELL ITS DONE.

paint, supplies, fitting the rear roll pan and massaging two small dings and total repaint with ppg two stage ford e4 red cost me 6516$. that was removing the bed to get behind the cab and in front of the bed, tailgate, and new windshield trim.

HI pipes 71. I feel your pain on painting your truck,But here's the deal, you said you were going to use your truck to haul stuff and just wanted it to look good. Well macco is not a bad idea if you don't want to spend alot.
some of the paint that is used is the nason line that is from Dupont and is good stuff Make sure to use the urethan as it is the best that nason has. the outcome of the paint job depends on the painter.
Ha from what I have herd Macco dose not do any wet sanding, the just spray and hope to go its good, thats why when the time comes im painting my 69 my self
Thanks guys..
right now I'm working on my buddy who is going to do the body work. He says if he does it its gonna have to be done in pieces, as his garage isnt big enough to paint the whole truck. At this point my funds are getting pretty deleted. as I spent some money at cali pickup sale.. and I still need to get all the parts to put the 460 back in the truck the right way, so it will either be paul doing the truck(he painted my mustang, and I was more then happy with the garage paint job) or I may save a few buck and do maaco job. All I know is its gettign chilly out and I'm way behind with this thing
If you are going to do all the prep work and prime, blocking, etc. A Maaco job won't be too bad. You may find a shop that will rent you a booth for a few bucks and your buddy could shoot it there. If you do the prep work right and use compatabile material with what Maaco uses for their top shelf urethane job, it should come out well. They will wheel and deal if it's only a mask, tack and squirt job.
