name this funky doodad

Post by 1971ford »

i have never noticed this before until now because im currently repainting the inner fenders. what is this arch doohicky that looks like it holds something?
its on my right inner fender. i heard somewhere that a jack or something mounts somewhere on the truck. is this the place?
Image

deciding whether i should take it off or put what belongs under it to keep the truck original. but i should find out what it is first.

the first doo hickey is indeed your jack mount. these trucks had to horns a lo in the pass. side and a hi on the drivers.

looks like after market chevy style horns.

yes thats to hold the old crank style jacks for these trucks. and the two horns could be a hi and low horn setup. you can read on each horn it will say if its a hi horn or a low horn. if you have one of each. it is worth something guard it with your life. everyone wants one of those setups.

bass and trebble basically. the hi and lo are kind of hard to see if they are still mounted on the truck.

i could barely read that they were high and low. my face was on the radiator at one point but they are readable when mounted. the two horns in the picture are on the passenger side.

not sure if there was a standard mounting but all the dual horn trucks ive had 3 so far have and all three have had one on each side of the radiator.

low on pass and hi on driverside. single wire horns that ground through thecore support.
