Painting questions

Post by 71Ford100 »

I need to get the crew stripped down to stop the rust that is starting to eat at the back doors and top of the cab. My question is after I get stripped and the rust repaired what is the best way to protect the metal. Is primer the best for vechicles or POR-15 or what? How many coats do you recommend. How many coats of paint? What is the best brand of paint that isn't too hard on the pocketbook.. How do you get the paint to look good where you welded patch panels in and ground them down.

Sorry don't know a thing about painting vechicles. Now if it was a tractor I wouldn't be asking these questions.

I don't know much about body work myself, but I have been looking a product from KBS Coatings. Here is the link:

This stuff looks like it would work good.
