re: can you chrome these?
Not in the traditional sense, but yes...
"The process is identical to the process used for steel except for the use of special pre-plating solutions to allow the copper, nickel, chrome plating to adhere to the aluminum surface."

However, I believe they're talking about heavier aluminum parts, like intake manifolds...I'm no expert, but I don't think the very thin aluminum trim on our trucks would make it through the process. You can polish these to an almost chrome-like finish, and then have it anodized....and probably be happier with it's appearance.

Re: re: can you chrome these?
Oh really? Hmmm....cool! Learn something new every day here. I'll be honest and say I don't really know a lot about the chroming process, but I thought I recalled watching a TV special on it where they were dipping the pieces in a heated vat of solutions, and I guess I figured that it would tend to melt the aluminum. I guess not.Comet wrote:Keith, I've had 18ga. alum. chromed before, it came out great!

Just don't be around when they do it.
The solutions stink. A friend of mine worked at Lincoln Plating for 3 months before he finaly said "No more!"
