I got tired of hitting my head on the hood latch so I finally decided to do something about it.
I took the springs off another hood hinge set I have to put on the truck. To remove them from the truck, I propped up the hood at its highest point, took a cam type tie down strap and hooked the end of the spring. I then pulled the spring off the hinge, safely with my hands out of the way. Worked like a charm.
I then loaded up the new spring, pulled on it with the strap, and slipped it over the hinge.
One thing I noticed was the tired springs were about a half inch less in diameter than the good ones I put on there.
It sure is nice for the hood to actually stay at the top of the hinge travel clearing my big ole head!!!
