Dana 60 brake parts

Post by junkyardjeff »

I am putting a 72 dana 60 in my 66 and someone buggered up the adjustment hole on one backing plate,do the different width shoes require their own backing plate or are all of them the same. Jeff

I think the backing plate should be the same on a 2.5 or 3in shoes, the drum is what is different. If so I have a set of D60 backing plates that were with 2.5in shoes laying in the garage right now for free you just pay their way. Let me know B4 fri if so, i'll be sipping out a few things then.

:hw: Ok big ooops I kinda tossed the backing plates last garbage day cuz i figured nobody would prob want them. So I only held onto the drums.

But I do have my 70 D60 that the carrier bearings crapped out and it's at my buddys house I just need to pull them off this weekend if you'd like them. Also he is going to do a disk conversion on the rear of his 70 highboy. So if you want them It's just gonna take a couple extra days.

Sorry

Hey let me know what he ends up using on his disc brake conversion.
So far I've found the brackets, and it seems like everyone uses chevy calipers and late 70's discs.
I'm looking for options and prices (cheep preferably)

I am in no hurry since I still have to find a good pair of emergency brake cables. Jeff

If hes not going to use the original emergency brake cables after the disc conversion I could use them as I might be able to get them to work on my 66,the 66 has two different lengths and the 70 to 72s had equal lengths but I think they will work. Jeff
