Need help with a body and interior color
Need help with a new project. I have an original 69 f-100 that does not look repainted. It has an ode paint code and interior code. exterior code is a 3 and the interior code is an 8. The truck is painted orange with a black simulated vinyl top. I am wanting to know is if this was a code that one that was a special order or what? Any help will be appreciated

Not sure on the question but wow, nice truck. Keith has some VIN number pages on the home tech page.

The question that I have is that the codes that I have on the vin tag is not in any of the tables including the one that Keith has on here. I think that it must be something like a special order. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks guys

Well, 3 was the car code for Competition Orange, do you have a 6-digit D.S.O.?

re: Need help with a body and interior color
Normally when it's a special-order paint, the paint section of the VIN tag is left blank....but anything is possible. It's always possible that in your case the special-order paint WAS included on the VIN tag.
Actually, it's very likely, since orange wasn't an optional color offered for the light-duty trucks in '69.
Not to insinuate anything, but are you sure you're reading the VIN tag correctly? Can you tell us exactly what all three lines of the tag say? (You can leave off the last 5 digits of the top line if you want.)
The reason I'm asking is this...many times, trucks have VIN tags which don't match their trucks, due to the door (or tag) being replaced by a previous owner for one reason or another. (Heck, I pulled a door once off an F100 that had the VIN tag from an F600 on it!) if you were transposing the interior and exterior code numbers, meaning the interior code was 3 and the exterior was 8, that would match up to specs for the '70 trucks. For those, the interior code of 3 was for a parchment interior and the exterior code of 8 would have been for 'Morning Gold'. Just a possibility....

re: Need help with a body and interior color
Keith It is entirely possible that is why I asked for help.
My vin is F10YKF11xxxx 131
3 8 81 c17 62
I haven't taken delivery of the truck yet. Mick the guy I am buying the truck from gave me the numbers over the phone. I will be able to do a better bit of investigating next week when I can get to the truck in person.
Thanks for the help I am totally devoted to this site![FORDification Rocks! :fr:](./images/smilies/icon_FORDification.gif)

re: Need help with a body and interior color
Good news was doing some more research and found a site called LOVEFords and You can send your vin code to be decoded. It takes 24 hours for reply but they came back with calypso corral for the paint code and a link to a huge paint chip site and there it was! The chip code site was www.tcpglobal.com you can inter the make model and year and it will bring up the chip book for you. It really matches the color of the truck. It has more chips for our trucks than any site I have seen so far. Check it out!

Hmm, calypso corral was a '69 mid-year color for the Mustang but you could get it on the trucks too.

Doh!
You DO have a '69, don't know why I was thinking '68. ![Hmmm :hmm:](./images/smilies/icon_hm.gif)
