Greetings from Indiana!
Hi folks... new here. My truck isn't set to ship until tomorrow, so hopefully I'm not jinxing myself. I was going to hold off on posting to the "Welcome Mat" until I had some pix I had taken myself. I also didn't want the dreaded "worthless without pictures" guys. However, since I've been posting, I figured I'd go ahead and say "hello".
Recently, my 2000 Dodge Intrepid's engine started knocking... a rod. Since an engine replacement was going to cost around $6500, I used this opportunity to convince my wife I should purchase an older truck and drive it, instead of buying a new car. She agreed, although she is nervous about the gas price. She was thrilled with the insurance cost, though.
The truck I just purchased is a '67 F100 Camper Special. This truck has a 352 and is in complete running condition. The engine was recently overhauled (about 2 years ago, but very few miles), so I hopefully will not have to do much to clean it up. Researching the VIN and other numbers provided tells me:
- This truck was built with with a 352-V8
- This truck was built in March of '67 in San Jose, CA
- The original color is "Frost Turquoise"
- The interior was "Med. Blue/Dark Blue"
- It was a "Camper Special Custom Cab"
- The seat was a "woven plastic bench seat"
- The transmission is "Cruise-o-matic 3-Spd Automatic"
Anyhow, I grew up around my grandparent's farm. My grandpa had a '68 F100, although I believe it was really a '67 because it was a CS (looks just like mine, including color). It also had the '67 style door locks. That's the truck I learned to drive in. Later, I had a '73 F100 while in high school, but my parents made me get rid of it because "it wasn't safe".
As of tomorrow, it will be in transit from a location far from me. Should take it about 10 days to get here. My intent is to use this truck as a daily driver while fixing it up over time. The immediate things I would be willing to put money on would be power steering, power brakes, brighter lights, and anything that improves gas mileage!
Anyhow, here's a picture for 'ya. If anyone is from Southern IN or Louisville, KY area, give me a shout... I could use some advice/help!
You can see a few more shots in the gallery... got one of the engine, interior, and driver's side. There are a few others, but I'm not going to post them until I can blur the license plate.

you can ford a river or stream and get to the other side, if you dodge it you will not, and if you drive a chevy to the levee it will run dry and the music will die.

Welcome aboard! That is a nice truck!
We don't have too many '67 F100 CS's on the board.

re: Greetings from Indiana!
haha! Yeah... those guys.
By the way, shortly after I bought the truck, I stumbled across this on eBay. In January 2008, I'll be able to register it in Indiana as a vanity/historical plate. I haven't gotten it yet (anyone detect a theme here?), but the seller told me it was in "mint/never used" condition, but it looks like it might have been a short-timer on someone's truck.
Scored it for around $8.50, so even if it ends up looking like junk I haven't lost much.

Mike,
Welcome! The truck looks great. The license plate is a cool score as well. Really neat huh? I like it.
The truck looks solid and what would our trucks be without that seat cover huh? All of mine have had one...and my Dad's.
Too cool. Again, welcome and keep us updated on your truck.
