O/T still ford hinges just t-bird trunks hinges?

Post by rjewkes »

My trunks lock mech. spring brok last night and when i stopped to try to fix it the trunk flew up realy hard and kissed the back of the roof.

Didn't hurt the roof or the glass but did goof uip the trunk lid and the hinges.

Can i take MFH(medium version of BFH) And smack them back to near normal or what?

If it closed them up some what you might be able to put a short 2x4 under a hinge and slowly put pressure on the hinge by closing the lid. But be careful not to go to far. Now if it opened them up you can probably stick a board in the hinge then open the lid to close the gap. This is the easiest way i can tell you to try to rebend them back. You might even have to readjust the lid to fit. afterwards if you have a spot next to the glass thats just a tad higher than the body and the hinge bolts to the bottom of the lid. Get a few front end shims from any alignment shop and loosen the bolt closest to the back of the car. Place a shim in there and tighten. I know it sounds like it would make it stick up higher but it works just the opposite. To raise do the opposite. Good luck Robert hope this helps ya out.

i think so. What it did was it flung forward hard enough to make it want to stay open so i'll try the 2x4 across the trunk opening and try to close the trunk just a little at a time until it closes right.
