New guy from VA

Post by ScottVA »

Hey gang, I am new to the site and want to wish everyone a happy new year. I have a 1971 ford f100. Basic truck but it has sentimental value. It was my grandfathers truck that he bought new. I remember as a young child hauling a spliting many many loads of wood with that truck, rides out to the local small airport and his little rat dog. He sold the truck in early 80's to a family friend. About 2 years ago I happened to drive by that family friends business and see this truck for sale. They were asking 500 and it is in very sad shape. Rust all over it,
"was" running very very rough. But running, I bought it and my wife was crazy mad, but hey they get over it. About 3 months after I bought I was trying to teach my son how to drive a clutch, and wouldnt you know it he blew the clutch. So there it has sit for the last 18 months or so. So today I decide it was time to start the restoration process. I will post the before pictures soon. The neatess thing about the whole process is. This truck still smells the same as I remember it from when I was a kid. Like my grandfathers Old Spice, Grecian formula, and that dog... Its a terrible smell really but it makes me smile every time I open the door.

Have a great new year :fr:

ScottVA,

Welcome to the forums and the site. This place is great. Pull up a chair and set awhile.

Great story man, I love it when there's history. It is really cool that you got the truck your Grandaddy owned. Too Cool. Good luck on the restore and definitely post some pics!

Welcome to the site. These stories of family history add quite a bit of value to the trucks.
