Guage question

Post by rjewkes »

If the guage works when in another truck. And the Orange wire pulses on the tester with the key on and it works on the tester with the original ground used to complete the circuit.

Why won't it peg when the wires are grounded to eachother?

The oil pegs with the engine off and key on and doesn't work when running. All the grounds check out. All the wires check out. Is there a fuse that if blown Cuases eratic or no/low readings?

I'm having a hard time following what you're saying but it sounds like a bad oil pressure sender? :hmm:

all the guages have power but none of them work and ichanged my good Fuel guage from another cluster into it.

And the fuel gauge wire behind the seat is getting power and i have tried all grounds.

and grounded it to many other items in the area and still no movement on the guage.

It sounds like that voltage reducer on the back of the panel is bad if all of them are acting funny.

Check the voltage level to the gauges. If the IPVR is bad then it may not be putting out 12 volts. The gauges need 5 volts. If they got 12 volts you may have fried the gauges.

Sounds like a bad/loose connection. If it works key on engine off,
it should still work key on engine on. Look at all your grounds. Thats
usually where the trouble is. Take them apart and clean them. They
might look fine but be oxydized/tarnished where the wire grounds.
Start at the battery and work towards the Ign. switch. Good luck, KP
