I was just wanting peoples opinions on which route to take. I've got a 69 F100 LWB that I use as a work truck (back and fort to Home Depot mostly). On a regular basis, I have the need to haul some heavy loads (typically 1000-1500 pound bales of hay). I notice that when I do, the bed bottoms out (or very close to it). I was thinking about just getting a helper spring, but then figured the original springs were over 30 years old, so I didn't know if I'd be inviting trouble. The original springs appear to be in good shape, and the truck seems to drive fine.
I like the helper spring for economic reasons, and this really isn't a truck I plan to restore. Thanks for your comments.

re: New Leaf Spring vs. Helper Spring
As long as your stock springs are in tact you should be able to go with helpers.
