Body Emblem Tape
I bought some 3M Body something adhesive tape. The tape itself is 1/4 inch wide, black, and the part you peel off is red. Anyone ever use this stuff? I ask because as I was unrolling it to use it I felt it with my finger and it didn't seem sticky at all. Then I read the instructions and in addition to cleaning the surface, there was one step that said to apply some type of bonding enhancer (or something like that) to the body and part before applying the tape. So I went back to the paint shop and they didn't have the stuff, never heard of it, and said that all the body guys who buy from them have never asked for it. They said go ahead and try it and if it doesn't hold they'd give me back my money. The problem with that is that if the emblem falls off I'll have to go buy another. So I'm wondering if anyone can tell me if the stuff actually works.

It works and it works WELL. It may not feel sticky to your finger because of the natural oils on your skin but a good clean surface of paint and it's there for good so make sure it's where you want.

windshield mirror prep. not the glue part but the cleaner. i think its alcohol based. or mek but i don't know what mek will do. but its buzzing in my head that it might clean the paint to get the surface oil free. but then again maybe it would ruin the paint i don't know. alcohol is safe though.

Not a problem, MEK is a very strong chemical, (Methyl Ethyl Keytone) it is sometimes used to thin urthanes type paints in small amounts sometimes epoxys too. Works extremely well for removing adhesives off emblems etc.oh BTY its also used to clean out your paint guns.
