wind sheild wipers

How do you get the wind sheild wiper arms off?

tilt them out away from the window and i think there is a clip you have to pull away from the shaft to release it from the splines.

i tried to no aval does anyone have a trick to doing this.

i grabbed right at the shaft and twisted slightly while pulling. maybe you can pry with a pair of screwdrivers?
