Used Aim I Beam Problem
After installing new king pins in the aim drop beams that I bought used a while back off of ebay, I realize that the passenger side I beam is egged out, making the passenger side wheel flop when off of the ground like it needs a king pin. Has anyone run into this, any solutions? Anyone with a passenger side aim drop beam thats in good condition?...not like the one I bought. Looking locally for a fix like a sleeve or something, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hmmm....so now we know why the seller was selling them on E-bay, huh?
Damn, that sucks. I suppose it's repairable, if you can find a machinist who will be willing to tackle that. He'd have to bore the hole out so it's concentric again and put in an oversize bushing. It's gonna be a lot of work. I think in your situation I'd be more inclined to contact AIM and see if you could just buy a replacement beam...seems it would cost no more (or even less) than what the machinist would probably charge you to fix it.
I also think I'd be contacting the seller and raising a little hell with him about it. That's pretty dishonest if he didn't reveal in his listing that the kingpin bushing hole was ovaled out.![Mad :x](./images/smilies/icon_mad.gif)

re: Used Aim I Beam Problem
If the I-beam you have takes a stock type king pin kit and the hole isn't worn too bad you might consider installing a .010 oversize king pin. They still take the same bushings in the spindle you just need to ream them to fit the .010 larger king pin. That is what I did on my truck. When I cleaned the rust out of the holes the std size king pins fit too loose in the I-beam. I realize .010 larger won't take care of the problem if the hole is worn a lot, but if the hole is .010 big and you put a std king pin in it you would likely have a lot of slop also.

Off topic but just had to say that's a sweet looking truck you've got there.

re: Used Aim I Beam Problem
it sucks when your so close to finish my truck came out of storage early spring and im now just able to drive it now body work etc and to top it off Im not finished yet and I just sent the tailgate back didnt like the job on the minor blemishes they repaired and some small defects in the paint finish Emron 5.0 is an expensive paint finish has one hell of a shine so if the surface isn't right it shows. Nice truck bty ![Cool 8)](./images/smilies/icon_cool.gif)

I don't know what you paid for it but if you had a stock beam they could use as a pattern to get the whole semi close to where it needs to be a good machinist should be able to sleeve it for a bill or less. The axle eyes on big trucks are sleeved every day

I agree with WT, when I did machine work we sleeved a lot of things (and I mean a LOT:lol: ), I can't see it costing nearly as much as the new parts.

You coming through in a big truck Tony? I see lots of them on 277 between Angelo and Abilene, it's a pretty good stretch of road.
