steering slop is in the new box

Post by dablack00 »

Ok guys. About three years ago I replaced my kingpins, tierods, center link, bushings, everything. Even the box. The steering got better, but no good. Still lots of slop in the steering. I stoped driving the truck for about two years and now I'm back to driving it everyday. I started looking into where the slop was and its in the dern power steering box. With the hood up and me standing out side the truck, I can reach in the open window, move the wheel back and forth about 4 or 5 inches. While I'm doing this, I peak down between the back of the open hood and cowl. There I can see the rag joint turning and the shaft that goes into the box turning, but the output shaft isn't turning. I have tightened the adjustment and it doesn't do anything. Do I just need a different new box?

It would seem like it.

You are loosening the nut and then turning the screw in to try and tighten it up right?

Not trying to be an ahole but sometimes people do make mistakes.
