I had my old springs in the rear and plumbed from the frame to the center pin and it looks like it is dead center with the bump stop. I have that at 41" from the rear of the frame (ford says should be 40.2 from the rear) I also am getting ready to put the new front in, is the front axle center on the bump stop also? If I measure from the 41" mark in the rear to 164.5 to the front (fords WB for a crew cab) I have it .5" forward of the center of the bump stop? really .5 inches wont matter but midas well try to get it right the first time. Any thoughts?

re: front axle location?
Here is whats happening in the front:
I will be adding 2" or so to the front of the frame by overlaping C-channel over the original frame for about 6" more, box the front probably to the trans crossmember and sleeve the bolt for the steering gear box and front leaf mounting bolts. I will also be using the wheel base from the current rear 41" which pushes the springs forward and with using the 85', 10" springs the mounting is further in front of the frame than the frame length.... I believe though I can get a couple bolts in the original 67' frame and then a couple in the added 2" or so... I also will be putting a warn wench on the front with a pushbar so I believe you will not even notice the added 2" or so...With those front 10" springs being over 1k I need to make them work (or should anyway to save money

re: front axle location?
My suggestion is to find someone with some old frame books and get the measurements out of it. Now this might tend to be looking for a needle in a hay stack but ya just never know. I know when my dad had his place we didnt ever throw away frame books no matter how old they were. You might even find a crash book sometimes they have this info in them. Just a thought for you. I will see if i can find anything around here as i still have a lot of body shop connections. I still buy from the parts DC here my dad used. Might be able to come up with a micro fiche with this info.

re: front axle location?
More changes.....
Will not be welding more on the front of the frame, I will be mounting the front hanger as far forward as I can then using my current 10" spring to get a new measurement where the pin needs to be to re-center the axle along with ride height to make sure the truck sits level and make changes to that accordingly also while Im at it. I will then tow the truck to a scale and getting the front weight to make sure the spring is perfect and order a new custom set from national spring....
The rear springs look to be ok but will find out with them after I drive it when its done, might have to order some softer riding ones later?
