My Camper Special has factory front disk brakes. The pedal went almost to the floor recently when a front brake part failed. The part is C8TZ-2B161A - Brake Pressure Metering Valve. It is also stamped KH 2801 - indicating a Kelsey Hayes part. It is not the proportioning valve, rather it mounts on the front crossmember under the engine area. It has a plunger that is supposed to be depressed when bleeding the brakes. It has one line from the prop valve and then a line each for each caliper. The seal on mine has failed and Green Sales and others have come up empty. I've searched for both the Ford and the KH number with no success. Can't find one in the local junkyards.
I want to replace it or have the valve rebuilt, but can't seem to find a rebuilding service. I imagine a company that rebuilds proportioning valves could handle this. Any suggestions on a company that can do this type of work?

They use that exact same part and # thru the 70's, maybe it would be easier to find one on a junker?

re: Need to rebuild '72 F250 disk brake metering valve
It would be easier to use one from a junker, but we seem to be fresh out of '73-'75 or so F250's in this area. I rarely see any 68-72 trucks in local yards anymore (I go frequently), though I was shocked to find a rusty '70 F100 SWB last weekend. I know the part is not present on '78-'79 F250's, not sure what model year they were no longer installed. I've checked some Ford vans as well - no dice.
The part's seal failed suddenly and without warning. My truck is kind to me - both recent major issues (like steering column shaft breaking in two above the rag joint due to bad cab mounts - I have a good cab to install - and then the brake valve issue) occured right in front of my house. It's not uncommon for me to drive the truck long distances and it would be unsettling to lose front brakes after crossing the pass near Walsenberg, CO
, so a new or rebuilt part will give me a little more peace of mind. Not sure how long the junkyard one will last, but if I had found one last weekend it would be on the truck now and the old valve saved for a rebuilder. I even wonder it I could just eliminate the part with a Weatherhead "T" and have toyed with that idea
. Ford put it there for a reason, I suppose.
I did partially dismantle the valve but reassembled it when I saw what appeared to be a unique seal. I was hoping to find an O-ring, but not the case.

Two thoughts.
First, check some other ford models. I had a similar issue with the same part in my 1970 Mustang. Turns out it's virtually identical to the one in a mid to late 70's Ford Granada. Its been a while, but I was able to get it from a Ford parts department. Someone with some old manuals might be able to cross reference it for you.
Also watch ebay. I picked up a correct NOS one on ebay about a year ago. I was surprised that I was the only person who bid on it. I've got it stashed away for a rainy day.

I know what part you are talking about, But you see them more on the 1970 ta 74 ford f350s and after about 75 the just got a Y fitting. If ya need the part I will gladly rip the thing off my truck and relace it with the later year fitting. how much is it worth to ya & where do I ship it to.
WHAT ?
