spare tire location
OK, I've brought home the 69 ranger lwb (new guy) and the seller was nice enough to give me a spare, jack, tools, and 4way for the 430 mile drive home. There is a large space between the rails rearward of the axle that looks like it could fit. It has what looks like either a pinned or bolted metal strap bisecting the area. Does the spare go there? How? Thanks for any help.

re: spare tire location
my parts truck has mounting for it in the side of the bed. my other truck has mounting for it in the front (in front of the grill). i always thought it would be best to put it under the truck. (where it is in most newer trucks)

It sure looks like it will fit but I've got to figure out a way to move one end of that strap to get it up in there...or drill a hole in the middle of it and make up some sort of hanging carrier like on the f150 company truck. If I figure something out I'll take pics. Good luck with yours.

Thanks slucent. I'd already bought some eye bolts and hardware and was wondering about how to make it all work. I still need the carrier itself though. Have you guys seen a crank assembly that get installed in the cab and runs a cable to a pivot point. There was one on ebay designed just for f100's if you can believe it. Looked like it mounted on the area below/beside the passenger seat. Stick the crank on reel it down-back up and pawls held it in place until next time. I've been looking at used toyota winches and thinking about how to mount one so it could be accessed throught the bumper...Thanks again.

I was going to say a new F150 style drop down would be really trick if you could get it to mount and wouldn't mind cutting a whole in the bumper for the handle.

Hey Tim P., LMC has a bed mount (which I'll probably end up going to) and if you google it there are 2 or 3 manufacturers from 30-50 dollars. It certainly is the most convenient.
