What gives these guys the "juevos" to break into c

Post by ivansgreat »

So, today I got a call from the campus police (I go to Texas A&M) and apparently someone broke into my truck and took my set of Craftsmen tools. I should have gotten a tool box in the bed to put thief temptations into. Luckily they didn't take the truck and just broke the vent window. Makes me want to hide out in the parking lot one night and catch this kid in the act and show him a thing or two about Karma.

Yep, I doubt the thieves even know how to use the tools, they were probably just looking for something quick and easy to steal and sell for some quick cash....and probably for their next 'high'.

My wife and I go round and round almost every day about this...she has a very bad habit of leaving the keys in the ignition, with the windows down, and her purse (with the checkbook, credit cards AND cell phone) sitting out on the seat! :nono: Granted, we live in a small town where it's less likely to get ripped off, but there's no sense in actually inviting thieves by leaving your valuables out in the open. Thieves are much less likely to go to the trouble to break into the trunk of a car or a crossbed toolbox just to see if there's anything of value....but if they can see it, that's all the encouragement they need.

Heck, a couple years ago I rode my new mountain bike to church. Came out an hour later to find it gone (didn't think anyone would actually have the balls to steal it from a church! ) . It was found a few hours later dumped in the alley a few blocks away. Probably just some kids out for a 'joyride', but it drove the lesson home to always always keep my stuff locked up and preferrably out of sight. It'll at least help keep the semi-honest people semi-honest. ;)

It irks me that I have to take my keys out just to go into the store cuz that little commie thank you barcode thing is on there. I take 'em out in the city but around town I leave the keys in and the windows down.

I had my aluminum tool boxes broken into 3 times and tons of tools stolen. ( they had good locks and hasps on them) I decided to build a tool vault to slow them down. 2 1/2 years and they havnt broken into this one. Rawson Koenig 12 guage steel box and Master Locks high security bolt cutter proof Hasps and Master locks High security bolt cutter proof locks. It takes me two minutes to get in it with the keys. Its a shame it had to come to this but I,m winning so far now.

I hate thieves, they ought to get their fingers lopped off. :x
Also, people, correction, scum like to help them selves to whatever you keep in the back of a truck. Even if it's junk. I guess they figure it's there, they're there and it's easy so what the heck.
People that use other people's trucks as trash cans tick me off too. :x

As kids We never locked our trucks, never took the key out, if it would even come out, we just parked them and went into the show on main street with our girl (if we were lucky) Back then our two Staffordshire terriors ( thats pit bulls to the UKC people) we used on cattle never let me leave home with out them. They took their truck guarding duties seriously Never taught them to do this they just did it. Never lost anything out of my truck with them around.

:yt: A fun thing grandpa did is remove the diesel emblems and stickers off of his truck. He hoped that whoever had the nerve to siphon one of the tanks was looking for gasoline. :D
