Hey Fordman... Thanks for the quick info. Any idea of adjustment on this part? when I install the master cyl onto the booster this rod pushes the master cyl's piston open just alittle bit. Wondering if it should be screwed in a little? Thanks in advance!

i have never messed with adjusting them. i have never actually replaced one. i have only removed the master and replaced it or removed the whole booster and brackets as one piece.

The booster rod should just make contact with the MC piston

Hey Mach428... Thanks for the info, Thats what I thought because the piston being pushed in it would cause the brakes to be under pressure and would drag. Im gonna give it a try this weekend... Ill let you guys know how it turns out. Thanks again!

After posting this message yesterday, I thought about when I replaced the booster on my Mustang and I remember reading in the manual that there is supposed to be a very small clearance between the tip of the booster rod and the master cylinder piston. This is to account for the fact that the diaphragm in the booster will move forward very slightly when vacuum is applied (starting the engine)
I think the clearance was about 1/16" but I can check the manual this weekend and advise the actual clearance.

Hey Mach428, thanks for the info... Once the master & booster are bolted together its like 1/16" of push so your probibly right and it makes sence. If you can check your manual that would be great.

I checked the manual and it says to adjust the booster push rod so that it sticks out from the edge where the MC bolts to .90". I'm out of town right now but I brought the manual back with me just in case you have more questions.
