Hey Td! What's that in the bed of that nice yellow pickup? A gas tank or a fold down seat?

A friend of mine had his slammed Chev tubbed like that. He called it a 50 Gallon can of "Bad Ass"
Of course we shot back that it was a 50 Gallon can of #@%$! (or anything else colorful & derogatory we could think of).
Good lookin' ride, but that sure eat's up the bed. Not that he's gonna be haulin' anything (but a##) in that thing.
& I'm just finishing up final blocking, then we'll paint the front clip...& install the cab & front end!! So I'll soon need to hack up (clearance) MY inner fenders too. So It'll be cool to see how he handled it! Was thinkin' about having custom aluminum inner fenders fabbed. Another friend had it done in a Drag Car & said it was SURPRISINGLY affordable.
So I'll be waiting for my copy of this month's CLASSIC TRUX with Baited Breath...or at least it smells like Bait!...

thats a "tubbed" bed. you have to do that when youve got a lowered truck like that. just think of when you lower a truck the rearend has to go higher than the stock frame rails, so you notch them, and you bring the rearend up into the bed pretty much. someone will have a better explantationrobroy wrote:Hey Td! robroy,
here's a example pic of what Mikes (mike68merc) step notch looks like, some will just leave them exposed through the bed floor, or you can raise the whole bed floor up to have a more stock appearance, or as the yellow truck did, build a cover over it.

HA!!! I just realized that pic has the Bags on upside down! It was taken early in the process ,as we were trying to make sure nothing hit or rubbed. Being the "big help" that I am, I put 'em on like this. My buddy came in shortly after, saw this, & kicked me out of the shop. I guess they can be run either way,but the other way is the most common.

Hey Robroy,
That's a notch cover on that dropped yellow truck.
Like td said some people cover the notch some leave it exposed to show of the suspension.
Here is a picture of mine.

td, no prob posting my pics...sorry I waited so long to do so... Everybody's location is so spread out on here, it's a shame you can't see my truck in person (not to mention starting meets or something...).
KF100TK, unfortunitely I have to admit that the work done on my truck thus far, was already done when I bought the truck (besides the wheels). I usually hate buying vehicles that I can't say I did the work to, but I'm not going to lie. This truck was too good to pass up the opportunity.
The gas filler was cut and molded from a 1976 F100 or F150, and there is a custom made 10 gallon tank in about the same place that Marz68 has in the pic above. With the 390, I don't get very far without passing a gas station , but I love the truck...
**** I posted a nice background story in my Thread called "Dodge Wheels" (page 2 or 3), in this same section. ****
Nice pics ezernut9mm....I'm not sure if you remember me, but you helped me to find this awesome site.....I talked to you on SVTPerformance under the name Bolt99SVT. I probably wouldn't have had the sense to search for a site like this if you didn't clue me in...
Thanks,
Frank
