nice truck's keep them coming!mike68merc wrote:It's so refreshing to see others who are as passionate as I am about these unappreciated Bumpside trucks! I'd looked all over the internet to find others working on LOWERING the #$%@ out of these things, & came up pretty empty handed. I'd found pics of Marz incredible 68, along with a few others I ran into over time, but untill I joined the site & really began exploring, it looked like this site was mainly into RESTO type trucks.... Damn glad to meet you guys! (Not that there's anything wrong with stockers).
Here's a couple pics of my 68 Merc. Its currently working on it's bad attitude. It's wearing 5"x4.5" 20x10 & 18x8 Coy's (polished aluminum) C-5's....Looks like I coulda gone to 20's upfront & 22x10s in back (with only slightly bigger tubs). Wish I'd gotten deeper into the site earlier!
.....& yeah, Coy's are a real bargain (compared to lots of other wheels)...Mine ran $1550.00 delivered. It was a Portland Swap Meet Special (last year). I got "Sunny" tires....Not sure how good they are (they told me I'd be getting Hankooks, but showed up with these)...they said they were out of stock, but these were an upgrade...?

Body & Paint is going on now, then I'll mount up the cab & see exactly how it sits... Out of money after this stage, so Trim & Chrome will have to wait. Probably won't be on the road till spring.
Sorry to interrupt your thread with this Novel, just got my blood pumping!

here's the rendering of Grant Peterson's 68 that was in the story titled "Bumpside build off" i tried to find a actual pic of it online but had no luck. someone else see if they can round one up. i remember seeing pics of it sitting in their shop.
haven't seen or heard him on the board in a long long time.

Is that CLASSIC TRUCKS "Bumpside Build-Off" still going on? I haven't seen an update in a long time? I've moved recently & my magazines haven't caught up with me yet, so I know I'm a little out of date...
Last I remember seems like 6 months ago...?
He's got the same chassis as mine. I am a Blatant Copy Cat.
No, Honestly I bought my Fatman's Kit before he started the Magazine project, but he built it way faster....Oh yeah & I also raised my bed (kind of) like he did.

Mike,
he also kicked his frame up in the front just as you did correct? i believe his plan was to stick with the coilovers if my memory serves me correct. good thing for the narrower track width of the mustang2 because i don't think he'd be able to roll that low any other way.

Re: bumps with lowerd altitude!! (pics please)
Thanks Tony. I'll get this "posting pics" thing right yet!
TD; Yes I kicked the front an extra 1 1/2". Not sure we did it exactly like he did, but we got the idea from his build.
I believe he was running smaller 17" wheels, but he said he didn't think it was quite low enough....That was all I needed to hear! We were just starting the front end, so we learned from HIS experience. We also moved the front end forward (7/8"??) to center it better in the wheelwells like he did.
Wow, You say he's NOT running bags!!...Gutsy.
This is roughly where mine ended up...Can't imagine driving without it without the AID of Bags!?!
So IS the magazine project still going on?....

Thanks for posting Frank!
i think the silver looks great with the monochromatic scheme, probably better than any color ive seen on a bump.

Got my issue of "Classic Trucks" Friday and it's back in there this month. He did a crazy upgrade with the front inner fenders . It's so new it's not even on their website as of yet.td wrote:Mike,

i know this one's been seen by most, but its way to cool of a lowered bump not to include in this thread. he had it on e-bay a few days ago, wonder if it sold
