You're trying to DRILL them out?! I'll bet that IS giving you fits! Heck, just grind the heads off the rivets and then use a BFH and large punch to drive the rest out.

knocking them out is the perfered way to do it. but i have had to drill out a few that i could get the heads knocked off of. i have used several methods to get the heads off of the rivets in the past too. a hammer and chisel is the easiest when yo ucan get a good position to use it. i have also used a sawzall in the harder places to get at places on the frame. this is usually where i have had to drill them out at too. and then a grinder. but you cant get a grinder into all the tight spots either.

I cut off the heads of the rivets with a grinder but couldn't knock them out so I started drilling. AND YES ITS GIVING ME FITS!!! But it will be worth the effort to see the finished product.

I cut the rivits once with a large sharp chizle held with vice grips, and a 3lb. small sledge.

Get an air chisel.
It'll go a lot faster.

I cut an X in the rivet head with a cut-off wheel, then chop the heads off with my air chisle, then switch bits to a center punch looking bit and blast them through. Because of tool clearance issues, this is not possible on all ritets but saves a bunch of time and knuckles on the others.

I finished the hanger flip tonight and installed a new center support. Now I'm having a problem getting the rear driveshaft back in. Does the shims have to be installed before the rear driveshaft will fit after doing the hanger flip?

Bussy day today. The shims need to be instaled when you are setting the angle. Something doesn't sound right because you should be able to install the drive shaft.

I don't have the shims yet but what I did was unbolt the hanger and lower the rearend. Then I installed the driveshaft with the hanger unbolted. Then redone everything. Now the driveshaft is installed and I'm just waiting on the shims.

The yoke on drive shaft needs some in and out on the transmission or you will brake something. You just might need to have it cut the drive shaft, I had to because it had no in and out motion. I think that I might just go with the lowering hangers here in the near future, because I want my suspention to have a softer ride. Right now it's solid because in the rear shackel it has no motion, because it also needs to be dropped.
