Whats wrong with the IRS 3rd member? you will likely never get it to hook up well enough to destroy it and if you do just toss in a super coupe third member ( I have a spare one for mine) since they are cast iron. I have a twin turbo diesel engine in mine and it makes more power and tq than 99.9999% of classic truck owners will ever have with a gasser even big blocks and that rear third member is just fine due to tire spin (hence the new tires that are going with my chassis LOL)
