so is there a way to remove them while installed on the truck?

to remove them from a truck you take the u bolts out on each side one side at a time. remove the botl in the center drop the overload spring off and then put the bolt back in. put the u bolts back around the axle and evenly tighten the u bolts downs. the do the other side the same way. i replaced a singl eleaf in my packs like this. oh and when i did it i jacked the truck up and let the axle sit on the ground. to remash the pack together i lower the truck onto the pack slowly and mashed the springs back into the pack so i could reinstall the nut onto the bolt in the center of the spring pack.

ive attempted this before...couldnt remove the bolt though....any special tips of advice?

i had a extra bolt from another spring pack. so i had a back up bolt. i used a1/2 impact to remove the nut fromt he bolt.

removed the nut just couldnt remove the bolt..also i think 8 springs are more than enough no?
4 out of 8 arent held together in the spring pack....ok to remove these since i just about never haul and i have rear air springs anyway

five is all i have under my trucks. andmine are just stock 5000 pound trucks. well i am not sure about the 67 but i think it has five leafs in each pack on it.

plus its just a regular cab shortbed....rides kinda stiff out back and sits the rear up about another 2 inches.
does the bolt pull out from the bottom of the pack?

so just remove the u bolt...jack up bed only and slide bolt out to remove?

yes the botl will hold the spring pack together. but on yours it may not the way it looks. but it mightbe a factory thing with a longer botl that goes through all of the springs in that picture.

got em off...only took about 8 hours...no air tools and leafs that got out of alignment...
but boy was it worth it..gave it the right stance
not doin that again without proper tools
