There should be an arm on the transmission drivers side where the shift linkage connects. The other end of the rod should go there and be held on by an "E" clip.
Once you have the transmission end hooked up, try manually opening the throttle and see if the kick down linkage moves rearward (or down if you prefer
). If so take it for a drive and let it get into high gear then floor it, it should downshift to second, if not get back to us for adjustments.(Needless to say the engine will be off when you are manually opening to WOT, and you won't be out there flooring it unless it is safe and legal to do so.)
