Letting it run out (with spare gas in a can in the bed) is the correct way to determine the visual characteristics of the gauge when it's time to get more :D

I actually remember filling up both tanks in my '68 CS (in cab and saddle) for around $30.00...
that's was about 43 gal when empty... that would be around $120 now...
The last time I filled up just the saddle tank it was just over $80 ...
I usually just put $20 in it at a time, unless I'm actually going somewhere with the camper...
I use my Caravan for pretty much everything else.

Anyone else remember when $10 would buy a full tank of gas, a gallon of oil (Ol' Smokey, a '59 Ford, had really bad rings) a case of beer and a bottle of Boone's Farm (in any flavor)???
You could cruise all night, and the alcohol always ran out before the gas did... :D

I've tried three different sending units, so I'm pretty sure it's the voltage regulator for the dash.

Funny how many of us use "10 MPG" as our "gauge"...
Mine does the 3/4 thing too, but I dream of 10mpg. :D
