I agree w/fordman thump. Make sure the dizzy goes all the way down. I replaced mine here while back and had to work it to get it all the way down. Mine is a 302 and was a tight fit anyway. I wouldn't run it as you have it, might booger up the pump rod and that would be an even bigger job to replace that.
I didn't know until i replaced mine but theres a gasket that goes between the dizzy and the intake, or a least my reman dizzy came with what i thought was a gasket. Anyway it's on there now :hmm:

Yup. I took a stupid risk running it (patience is a virtue somewhere) but lucked out as starting it up must have sucked it right down. Dumb ass, dumb luck. Couldn't find a timing light, so just made it sound purdy at idle. Lessons learned. I'm moving on to a new topic... or revisiting an earlier thread on the ac. Thank you all. I'm roll'n again.
