Re: 351w in a 68 f100 2wd with power steering
I just installed a set of Summit 86 Mustang headers on my 68/351W,Had to dimple the 3rd tube to clear the steering sector. As for shorties choking the motor down I dont know yet, havent quite got it ready to start yet, imo they have got to be a huge improvement over stock. I had tried a set for a 79/302 & they would not clear either side. Sanderson makes some ,but from the picture they drop almost straight down and require minor trimming of the engine stand & they are almost $300.00 for painted...Hope this helps, Martin

Re: 351w in a 68 f100 2wd with power steering
this is an old thread i know but i was wondering if i could get long tubes for a 351w in 1 of our trucks and this may be my answer but id like to know if anyone else has this and if so pics would be awesometheskytoucher wrote:Header for a 302 will work but as stated before they dont fit correctly, the headers are supposed to drop below the cross member on a 302 but on a 351w they have to sit on top of the cross member, and they push n the cross member causing vibrations,it also make the collector point slightly upwards!! I am running headers in my 68 ford with a 351w with power steering. Another problem you might run into is if you are running the bendix style power steering the headers are even tighter, the saginaw box has a little more clearance!

Does anyone know if 302 headers will work with a 351w WITHOUT power steering? The truck is a 68 2wd.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Well its hard man, I have 68 fairlane exhaust manifolds on mine, I dont want to put straight down headers because the pipe will go right by my starter. And Long ones wont work straight back. Good luck man, but you cant go wrong with straight back exhaust manifolds like me ![Wink ;)](./images/smilies/icon_wink.gif)

351w swap headers work well. After waiting forever for my buddy to build me a custom set I tried a set of BBK shorty headers for a 351w swap in a fox body mustang and they fit perectly! I would like to try a set of full length headers from BBk for a 351w swap in a fox body but I am happyt with the shorties.![Image](http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee2/teabag78/m_828eff548cc743e59054308c85a25faa.jpg)

those look great i looked a lot of shorties and many didnt look like they were much better than manifolds because of hoe the tubes run but those look like they should flow pretty good.
