If that's what you really want to do and you (and boss) have the skills, then go for it. BUT, you should be able to find a suitable donor ('73-'79 F100) for a similar price. Heck, I got all of that stuff at a wrecking yard for just $100. Granted, I didn't get a whole pickup for $100 but I also didn't have to break out the calculator, welder, clamps, level, plumb bob, etc. and remove the entire front clip from TWO trucks and deal with hauling the scrapped truck away. If I haven't hinted enough already, I don't think it's the best idea to cut your frame up to mount virtually the same suspension you can get from a '73-'79 (and it BOLTS in!). It just doesn't seem like a good ratio of work vs. results. If I were to cut my frame and modify, I would go Mustang II IFS (I did the Must. II on my '56). For my bump, I wanted a 1 to 2 day project to get my power disc brakes and power steering upgrades. I still say for a $100, it's a good buy to take what you need (seat, gas tank, motor? etc.) and then scrap it. Use the scrap money to find a more suitable and MUCH less labor intensive donor. Take it or leave it but that's my .
Oh yeah. Welcome to the site and post some pics when you have time! Good luck and have fun with the new ride!

Thanks Pat. I was trying to think how to word it without sounding like a smartazz and you did it for me.

Yup. I hope I didn't offend or sound like I was making fun as that was not my intention. This is my honest opinion and I just don't think the work involved is worth the reward when you can get virtually the exact same result in a day with a '73-'79. Anyway, BMP_SYD, it sounds like a cool truck and WE can't wait to see it! We love pics!

re: New to the site and have a question for you guys..
That is actually very very good advice.. and I think I'll do just that.. the donor truck does have a motor in it.. 302, which means, i can build that one and leave the current 302 in the 68 till the other is ready so its not down.. so, just yank the motor and gas tank from the 80 and find a 79.. works for me! thanks a lot!! Promise I'll post pics soon!!
