Being a complete boat novice, when the guy who told me about the boat said it was some sort of inline six, a 300 is exactly what I was hoping it was. (or even a 240) Then when I showed it to my brother, I lifted the doghouse and he remarked. "I think there's room for a 390 in there". He's always been an FE freak.
At least it doesn't say chevy anywhere on it. Just one small GM stamp on the block is all I've ever seen.

Welcome from Idaho! It sounds like you found yourself a nice, clean truck! I bet it looks even better (hint, hint)! Get better and post some pics when you can! How about some closer shots of that boat too. It looks pretty nice.

Here are some pics I snapped of it before I brought it home. The battery in my camera crapped out after only three.

the only dent and rust on the entire body is what you see behind the left rear wheel well in the last picture. It's not really a crease, just kinda pushed in. I think it will be an easy fix. I've since buffed the bump trim and it brightened right up. Gonna need some new vinyl inserts on it though.

yeah...It's a 160 Mercruiser and has power tilt/trim. Best I can tell, they only made the 160 with the 250 c.i. six between 67-69. After that it was a 292 and called a 165..till they were discontinued a few years later. It actually runs pretty good....for a GM

Nice truck indeed! It'll look sweet once you get her all gussied up and hitch up the boat.

Oh and by the way, welcome from California!

That's a good find there! It's hard to find em' here in Missouri that don't have a lot of structural rust. I'm from St. Louis, and I went to Oklahoma to get my first bump. The next one's comin from Cali. Welcome aboard!

I really can't figure why it isn't more rusted. It supposedly spent it's entire life about 50 miles SW of here, down near Truman Lake. It's had to have seen it's share of salt. This was the guy's daily driver for many years, then morphed into his "fishing" truck. I think the absence of the inner fender over the rear wheel well is a big thing. Every other PU I've had..(74, 75,78 Bronco, 87, 92) rusted badly there, in spite of my attempts to keep it from happening. At least I don't have to worry about that on my 02 F150SC.
