Hello,
Sorry Foggy i never meant in any way to bash your opinion or methods.
What i took into consideration is that most people who are inexperienced with bodywork are known for using too much hardener anyway, so i pictured in my head someone darn near doing a 50/50 mix of filler and hardener then throwing in a quart of resin and then baking it at 500+ degrees. I know my idea there is a bit extreme but i have seen it all!
I have been in the custom/restoration business for 15 years doing body and paint and i have never seen 2 bodymen with the same methods, as long as its straight and lasts a long time then i guess it doesnt matter how its done.
Some see my methods as extreme, When i need a car arrow straight i grind the entire car with 50 grit and glaze coat the entire body with filler including areas that may be perfectly straight.
I love to see the owners face when he sees his entire car looking like it has cake iceing all over it then when i tell them it has 2 gallons of filler on it they have a nerveous breakdown everytime, i then explain to them that 1 gallon will end up on the ground and only 1 gallon or so will remain on the car and thats not much when you figure it corrects every bodyline, dent wave even distortion in the metal that may not have even shown from the factory.
It cracks me up when people badmouth bodyfiller, they want the least amount of filler possible yet at the same time they have no problem blowing 3 gallons of primer on it, primer has a much higher failure rate than bodyfiller.

I remember when my little brother was mixing some one summer and it hardned up before he got to the car. It was also super hot out. It seemed like it was around 105 in the shade that summer. My dad and i both busted out laughing and told him to use about hald the hardner next time.
