My power steering pump brackets are off a mid 80's truck.
I have brackets and 3 ring dampener off a 78 300 on my 240. I have not run them, but I bolted it all up and I don't see the need for a 2 ring water pump pulley either. The 78 300ci did not have one (I have the whole motor laying around).

The parts place asked me for a serial # as something supposedly changed in 78. The change resulted in the later belt being a little shorter. Maybe a smaller pulley somewhere to run the PS pump a little faster????

Any case, I have it bolted up with a 1 ring waterpump pully and all the pulley allign fine (after a couple washers as shims on the back angle braces to the block).

I wonder which setup is better?.....
65 f-100 SWB, 240 I6, T-18, now swapped to C4 with difficulty. Yeah, I know. Its a 67-72 site. But my frame and entire drive train are just like yours!!!!
