roll the chassis under a tree or i na barn with sturdy trusses, hang a hoist, hook it to the four corners of the cab and lift it up, the roll the chassis out and set the cab down.

You could always use a engine hoist, I had the doors off and used points inside the cab when I did it.

A couple years ago I had to remove a cab from a truck out in the middle of nowhere, so what I did was completely disconnect the cab first, and then lifted up one side of it and slid a couple long 2x12's under it. Then I slid the cab down the 2x12's onto some soft grass, where I rolled it onto it's back and dragged it on the grass over to the car trailer:

In the second pic you can barely make out the movers dollies under the back of the cab. The mustang was sweating during that one.

when you fellers get your cabs off and want a nice way to get under and move them around, Harbor Freight has some really decent trailor jacks with a wheeled leg that folds up and down and are height adjustable for very reasonable money. You can either mount a 2x8 (or whatever) and mount the trailor jacks to that or mount the trailor jacks to the cab with drilling or whatever. At one time I had the whole front suspension off a car (unibody unbolted at cowel) and a trailor jack on each corner bolted where the factory bolts went and I could roll around the dead car and jack it up real high to get under and all kinds of nifty working angles. I might be using wrong term in "trailer jack" but I expect you know what I mean, it is a single wheeled arm bolted to a flat metal plate and you can pull the pin and fold arm up. They're only about $20 each. Banjo.

How about removing the seat and using the mounts with an engine hoist like someone else has mentioned before? Seems like it would be easier to control and easier to do in the shop. Any of you guys have success with that?
