I drove the truck 71 Long Bed was talking about yesterday. IMO one would have to be firing on less than all eight to carry any significant weight in a non power brake truck on anything but flat land.

re: F350 brake question
well i can assure you i am firing on all 8.
i will be the one stopping with or without the engine running , and also steering the same either way.
no offense but i prefer the setup i have and it has proven itself to me so i will keep it as is.

you can ford a river or stream and get to the other side, if you dodge it you will not, and if you drive a chevy to the levee it will run dry and the music will die.

Driving the truck and seeing first hand the brakes suck aside, Has anyone verified that the stock manual brakes are actually working right? That's the whole point here. It's not whether or not Jim Bob's brakes suck it's whether or not he's actually done anything to make sure they're working the way they should. I've driven some death trap brakeless old fords. The reason they didn't stop for beans wasn't because the brakes were manual ones, but because the braking system needed some serious maintenance. Go ahead, toss a power booster behind a manual master on a truck with bad brakes and it'll stop better. Fix the real problem and they'll stop even better.

re: F350 brake question
I realized this weekend that the power brake booster wasn't a stock option. How did I know? There are 3/4 inch nuts being used to shim the booster braket away from the firewall.
