re: Body lines
Is it a repop/offshore fender? How well does the bump on the back of the door line up with the cab and what's the bottom gap like?

re: Body lines
Hi mike, i know where you are going , if i lift i will lose the seam around the door, the cab and door are good i tryed to bring the front of the door up but it screws everything up ! I guess if i have the bottom of the cow and the hood in line , and the body lines of the door and fender it's the best i will get .I can lower the hood to get it , but then the top of the hood is lower then the cow also the seam at the door between the top of fender and the bottom of the cow looks real bad !

re: Body lines
I noticed that on cathynkeith's truck too.
I think that's just the way some of them are.

re: Body lines
i don't know the gaps on both of those trucks are too large. here is a suggetion. try to follow me on this. maybe the inner fender could be moved up more and the hood back down to match its current postion. the metal fender may flex flater and and close the gap. if you know what i mean by flexing flater against the truck i know its a short distance between the bolt on the inside of the hinges to the top of the fender but it might work.

re: Body lines
I don't think the inner fender can be moved up to match the lines. i did that on mine and now the bump on the fender and the bump on the door do not line up.

re: Body lines
BOTH ARE GRART POINTS, And just what i am talking about! I think what i might try is shims between the inner fender well and the outer fender!
I just do not like that seam !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If the grate one were to intervein,
he probably has the anser

re: Body lines
On cathynkeith's truck, it's simply a matter of raising the radiator support with shims. The radiator support is mounted too low, pulling the front of the fender down. Once he raises the hood up to be even with the bottom of the cowl, and then raises the radiator support via the shims, I'll bet things will line up pretty well.
However, with ladz' truck, it's hard to tell from the pics. One thing you might want to verify is that the bump is actually level, and not going downhill (from back to front). The constant point in getting it all lined up is the bump on the rear of the cab, immediately behind the door....use that to start with. You might have the door bump lined up with the cab bump, but if the door is attached in such a way that the bump is angled down (as you continue forward), then you'd have to attach the fender lower at the rear edge to get things to line up. Therefore, make sure the door is attached so that you have an even gap all the way around before attaching the fender.
...or, alternatively, just mount the fender up against the cowl where it needs to be, and then realign the door to get the bump to line up with the cab and fender. Finish the alignment procedure using a long piece of string that runs from the front to the rear of the truck along the bump crown, to make sure it's truly straight.

Re: re: Body lines
Shims between the inner fender and out fender won't accomplish much, if anything. Those bolts along the top of the fender don't do anything to locate the fender, they're just to support it. The actual fender mounting is at the firewall bracket (at the rear) and the radiator support (at the front). To raise the rear of the fender up against the cowl, you need to raise the firewall bracket. To raise the front of the fender, you need to shim the radiator support.ladz wrote:BOTH ARE GRART POINTS, And just what i am talking about!
