In the 73-up models they had the Explorer hood emblem.. looked kinda like a Lincoln emblem turned on its side with the word Explorer in it.

I had a 72 F-100 that grandpa put a "Mack Truck" bulldog on the front. He did it right and it looked pretty unique. I now own a 71 F-250 Highboy....no hood ornament, nor have I ever seen another one.

one of my old 67 merc one tonnes had a real ugly chrome jet thing on the hood so I took the thing off but the holes were punch out not drilled so I don't know they mint of came stock 
and no I didn't put the ugly thing back on, but I belive its still in my parts truck. I'll need to see if its got part #'s on it. mine doesn't look like your its more like a plane, kinda like a old Hudson tara planes hood ornament
