Shakle drop kits

Post by F-100Ranger »

Have any of you installed a shackle drop kit such as the one from AIM Industries? Can you all tell me what you're doing.

I'd like to lower my truck 1 inch up front and 2 inches in the rear resulting in a near level truck. I don't plan on hauling anything. I just want to use it as a summer daily drive. If i ever decide to haul anything I will install a set of air boosters.

Thanks guys

I was looking into those my self but don't understand the actual function of the shackle. I was thinking it relocates the leaf springs to a lower position...correct me if I am wrong someone...ANYONE

Shackles raise the leaf up thus lowering there truck. It sounds weird but lowering shackles are longer than stock.

You can use shackles or a flip kit, shackles would be the easiest
to install.

Watch your pinion angel if you use lowering shakles.

Sorry, I had to bail on my last post. I didn't mean to leave out important info. You might need a wedge to go in between the leaf spring and the axle to maintain the proper pinion angle. That is, keep your drive shaft in line with your differential. It is not imperative but if you don't you will feel a slight vibration when you accelerate. It isn't to bad but, over time, it could damage your U-joint. I lifted my Cherokee 3" and I can feel it vibrate slightly. Hope this helps :D

I used lowering spring hangers from AIM. Fairly easy to install. Also inquire about the shims for pinion angle correction when you talk with them.

That's them! They make deferent sizes for deferent angles depending on the size of your shackles.
