power steering pump swap ?
I was told my old can style box was cause for my steering to lock up on hi revs. I was tod to swap in a saginaw stle pump. I own a 71 f100 4x4 that has a 76 power steering pump and box all new in it. I have the FE 390 in my truckand I noticed that most of the saginaw style pumps are on 400m and 460 ci engines. Does anyone know if the saginaw pumps were put on FE's and if not does anyone make a bracket for one to bolt to the FE? Lastly can the bracket off the 460 or 400m be modified to fit the FE?

re: power steering pump swap ?
Check out this article, it is supposed to work with the stock bracket for the Ford pump. I think it will work on a FE too. I've also seen an aftermarket bracket to fit the canned ham Saginaw on a FE but it was around $300.

re: power steering pump swap ?
broke,
Most "rock crawlers" will use the Saginaw pump. Been told that it pumps a lot more PSI than other pumps. I had 38's on my Bronco with stock pump and did well for me though.
Hope this helps.
