size of brake pedal rubber pad

i asked this question the other night but, my 71 302 auto swb has a small brake pedal on it. my friends 70 302 auto has a large brake pedal onit. he says they bought the truck years ago when it had only 21000 miles on it. he still thinks mine is the wrong one. just asking again to make sure all should have small pads untill 73. is this correct? thanks
