Does anyone know if a step bumper from a 75 will fit on a 72?? I heard a roumer that the frame is a bit wider on the 75.

It's not a rumor... the frame is 5" wider in the rear on the 4X2.. It is the same wide on the 4X4.
Not sure if it will fit though.

With enough sweat, and a big enough hammer, you can make ANYTHING fit! ![Wink ](./images/smilies/icon_wink.gif)

or just weld or bolt on and adapter or some support metal that'll bring it down to the size of the 72 frame.

I don't want to give em a heart-attack. That is what would happen if I answered the door in the buff. Heck it almost scares me to death when I step out of the shower and look in the mirror.~Mancar1~

re: rear step bumper.
I was looking at it today, looks like I can weld on a 3/4 inch plate to the inside bumper where the bracket bolts to the bumper, and get some longer bolts. Thanks fo the info!

I put a '74 2wd bumper on my 4x4 with a couple pieces of scrap 2" rectangular tube and a 1/2 inch plate. I can dig them out for ya and take pics if you like (and I can find them again...I seem to lose things just before I need them....)
EDIT.... come to think about it, I dont think I will use these again, as I will be cutting the rear of my frame off for the wrecker deck. make an offer and if they will work, they are yours.

re: rear step bumper.
here ya go
bracket total length > 15.5 inch
added on 2x3x3/16 tube > top 9 3/4 inch / bottom 9 1/8 inch
drilled 5/8 inch holes to match '74 bracket in tube (spot welded for stability while drilling)
don't mind the bend in the plate, the truck was rear ended before I got the bumper
