brake pedal spring?

Post by 72fordjah »

I am searching for the spring that goes on the brake pedal to hold it up. or I beleive thats what I need. I have to put somthing under the pedal to keep it up otherwise the brake lights will stay on.

I tried seeing if some auto parts places would have it but no luck.

thanks

Theres no spring. How is your pedal pressure? Try bleeding that thing if that don't work replace the wheel cylinders and the master cylinder.

if your pedal isn't returning sounds to me like a bad brake booster...

My truck had an 'add on' spring that looked like it came from the hardware store. If you need a spring you'll have to fabricate something.

ditto, i had the same issue on my 68, completly rebuilt the brakes and wheel cylinders etc and no matter what the brake lights would come on, i got a new switch as well and did all i could to adjust it but the adjustment for cold brakes and warm brakes...was enough to drive me mad...sooo...i got a spring for a small gate (think picket fence type) and threw it on there, no more problems, and only a slight increase in pedal effort

problem solved, sanity kinda retained

thanks so much I bought the new sensor or switch and put it in. it works great! its on a 71 f100 btw.

I saw what kind of switch it was after i took all the ghetto electrical tape the previous owner had put on it. I also think he was an old drunk and ran off the side of the road and side swiped a tree. why my front right fender is wrecked. lol
