Paint chip and suggestions

Post by Fordfool »

Hey guys, I was wondering if there was a place online that I could look for paint suggestions as far as color goes. I am wanting a white top with a purple metal flake in both. I just don't know exactly what I want as far as purple color goes...I guess there is a pearl white metal flake that would look awesome with clear coat over it.

I hate to admit it, but the body shop that is doing the painting asked me if I wanted the bottom painted and I said sure. IT LOOKS BEAUTIFUL!!! but it is a GM darker grey. Oh well. I had them POR 15 every inch of the underneath side and paint it that grey. It is scary how good it looks! SHINY and should not rust for a long time!

A place right here in town called main street auto works. Very friendly and reasonable to boot! The most important part of my whole project is my cab to me. I am trying to get that done first as that is the most irreplaceable part of the whole project.

If you wanted something done and could get it here, they are really great to work with. I had my cab completely stripped of everything as far as nuts and bolts and such and they are doing the rest as far as body work and such. I had the cab body work done and primered for $240.00 and he is going to completely smooth the dash and already painted the underside completely for a little extra. I had him paint it (the underside) with the por 15 first, then primer it and then he painted it. Hopefully it will not rust as long as I am kicking. I really dig this darker grey under the truck and am thinking of having my frame done in it too.

As far as the overall price, I am doing it in pieces so it works out for both of us better. He can work the stuff in like doors, hood, fenders, etc... a bit at a time and not crowd him and not cost me an arm and a leg at once.

I was doing an inventory just a bit ago and it looks like I am going to have to find 2 better fenders as the ones I have are really ate up worse than I thought. I might just go for some new ones...maybe. gonna hunt around here for prices to see.

Anyhow, I think I am going to go with metal flake purple for the upper and that darker grey for the underside. I am still debating the white on the roof. One color would be good too...decisions decisions.
