Well - I think I'll test the waters

Post by Lightnin »

I've been looking around for a month or so now and I think I'm going to pull the trigger on a 1970 F100 styleside shortbed with a strait 6 - three on the column. The tail lights and brake lights don't work and the manual steering column and stick is sloppy, but other than that it seems pretty solid. Supposedly there is a short somewhere that keeps causing the brake lights to stop working. The guy said he will try to fix the brake lights and sell it to me for $800. He was originally asking $1,500. Cab mounts and radiator support appear solid.

Howdy Lightnin, welcome from West Texas. Sounds like a decent deal on the truck. You'll find there is a great deal of expert knowledge here (unfortunately not much of it is mine  ) and the folks that have it are among the nicest you could hope to meet.

Turn signal switch is almost always the culprit when the brake and taillights don't work.

Just make sure you don't wee in the waters while you are testing them.

Welcome and enjoy.
